New Year’s Eve

2021 is nearly here and we’re closing in on what’s likely to be one of the most eventful years of our lifetime. The ever-so-tedious 2020 coming to an end, coupled with new and approved vaccines sprouting by the day is the relief we need entering 2021 — however, we still think it’s important that we remain safe and cautious as we celebrate these wins! Yep, just like everything else, NYE celebrations are going to look different this year. The CDC has recommended canceling travel and celebrating New Year’s Eve safely at home and the iconic Times Square ball drop is going virtual for the first time ever!

There’s so much we’ll miss about the New Year celebrations from the old normal, but we decided to think of creative ways to make this one special nonetheless. We believe that starting the year on a happy note can totally set the tone for 2021! So, whether you’re living with family, roommates, or just by yourself, we’ve got ideas here that’ll make December 31 far more memorable than the rest of 2020.

Keep reading for our ideas to ring in 2021 in a fun, yet safe way.

# Have a Times Square ball drop watch party

New Year’s Eve 2

While the Times Square ball drop won’t have live spectators this time around, it’s wonderful that you can bring New York’s stunning skyline to your home instead. Catch the ball drop virtually this year in a first-of-its-kind Augmented Reality experience. We’re big on making a thing out of this event by having a virtual watch party with dinner and cocktails with friends and family; totally safe and the closest you can get to the real deal!

#2 Bring out all the board games

New Year’s Eve 3

Like to keep things as fuss-free as possible? Enjoy a wholesome night of fun with your favorite people and board games! If you’re by yourself and are celebrating virtually with your friends, you could organize a fabulous virtual game night and play games like Catan, Codenames, and HeadsUp!

#3 Organize an outdoor get-together

New Year’s Eve 4

If you live in a relatively warmer part of the states, you’re lucky and can host a socially-distanced outdoor bash in your lawn, porch, or backyard. Make sure your tables are arranged at a 6-feet distance from each other and wear your mask as often as possible.

#4 Deck up your home for New Year

New Year’s Eve 5

Not quite feeling the spirit of New Year's Eve 2021? Sprucing up your decor can be the perfect pick-me-up and can help you slip into party mode in a jiffy. Prop up a cute DIY New Year banner in your living room and scatter your home with balloons for that extra celebratory vibe! It might also be a good idea to ditch your regular dinner and drinkware and swap them out for fancier options to make the night truly special.

#5 Stargazing on New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve 6

If there’s one thing that has helped us feel grounded this year, it has been connecting with nature, even in the smallest ways. A walk in the park, catching the sunset, or a lovely Sunday morning trek has been nothing short of therapeutic, after being cooped in our homes for months. We love the idea of welcoming 2021 by stargazing on the rooftop without your phones for a one-of-a-kind, immersive experience. Just grab warm blankets, a cheese board, and a bottle of wine and this will become your most memorable New Year’s Eve ever!

2021 in so many ways symbolizes our hopes and dreams; we hope our ideas will help you welcome the year in the heartwarming way it deserves to be welcomed!
